Unless otherwise stated, all of our social groups meet at The Church on Oakwood. Each group welcomes new members and you can be sure of a warm reception - so don't be shy, come and join in!
If you are involved in leading one of the social groups and would like to add to or amend any of the information, including adding your phone number as a contact or sending photos of your group, please send me an email.
We meet every Thursday at 10am, and enjoy friendship and fellowship together. We have a whole range of handicrafts:knitting, crochet, sewing, tatting, teabag folding, decoupage and many more and often have mini 'master classes' when something new comes along to challenge us. We swap ideas and information and encourage and inform. So come along to the 'friendly club' where we craft and chat with cake and coffee!
Lin Reeve (March 2009)

A Christian Youth Group for 11 to 18 year olds.
We meet on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month, 7.30-8.45pm.
Please feel free to come and join us.
Mostly Mums meet every fortnight on a Friday during term time at 9.30am. We welcome anyone who would like to come and join us, including their children who can play in the same room while we study.
New Life music groupThe New Life music group exists to provide a ministry of music for the Church on Oakwood. The group meets every other Thursday in the main worship area of the Church building and practises a wide range of hymns and songs for use at the Sunday Morning Worship and other occasions as required. There are around 9 people who regularly take part in the group, with a similar number who operate the essential sound equipment and the PC/projector.
We meet every Monday between 2.00pm - 4pm. You do not have to be a member to come on our trips, just ask John Cox if there is space available. Many of our members not only meet up in Church on Sundays or at the Monday meetings but in many activities together on other days of the week. This illustrates primarily what the group was formed for some 18 years ago.
The Church On Oakwood Monday Fellowship will meet again on September 5th and will follow the programme detailed below until the end of 2011.
David & Goliath
Daniel in the Lion's Den A team of seven people, Sheila Harper, Margaret Hughes, Rachel Marshall, Gwynne & Brian Shaw, David Wright and Elizabeth Embley, started to prepare for 'Open the Book' in March 2008. Park View School had agreed that we could tell a Bible story each week. We have used narration, drama and puppets.
To increase our prayer life as a church, we have a regular Church Prayer Hour, held at the home of Peter and Stella Knott. This gives us the opportunity to pray for the Mission and Ministry of the Church on Oakwood.
It is held on either the first or second Tuesday of each month (see the Oracle Magazine Diary).
Why not come along and join us in praying for the church and the community we serve?
The Luncheon Club meets on the last Friday of the month at 12.30pm [for invited guests] and is part of our outreach to the community of Oakwood.
The Wednesday fellowship group aims to meet fortnightly at 7.45pm at the home of David Wright. David always gives us a very warm welcome to his home and provides us with refreshments.
